This is a must for Hamilton Collectors. There is an index of every man's Hamilton model made in America with pictures. Notes are available for selected notable watches. Each movement is described with some production numbers. Some people will gripe about the things not included, but this is still the definitive book. If you are a Hamilton collector, buy it!
Rene is recognized as THE expert on Hamilton electrics. The complete story of the Hamilton Electric can be found in "The Watch of the Future," now in a brand-new THIRD EDITION. In addition to a history of this unique invention, every style of Hamilton Electric watch is illustrated and the most collectable watches are described in detail, now including production figures for most styles. Another NEW feature of the third edition is a complete chapter detailing all Hamilton mechanical asymmetric watches. A special chapter on collecting Hamilton Electrics
gives helpful information about evaluating, repairing, and maintaining
these watches. An updated 1999 price guide is included. This is a must for anyone interested in wristwatches and all those who enjoy the
modernistic stylings of the 1950's. "The Watch of the Future" is
hardbound, with 182 pages and over 170 illustrations.
Everyone has a copy of this book. Don't go by the prices listed for Hamilton's, or you will never buy a watch. It can give you a fair idea about relative prices however. It covers all major makers of watches, but some complain about the % of information that concentrates only on pocket watches. If you have a good idea about market prices, you can probably do without it. It is however, nice for reference--and a thick paperback.
